Patent Data for Research PDW @ AOM

I co-hosted the Patent PDW "Advances in Patent Research: New Data, Measures, and Methods" at the 2024 Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting in Chicago (IL, USA), 9-13 August 2024, together with Lucy Xiaolu Wang (UMass).

The workshop took place Saturday, August 10, 2024, 11.30 AM - 2.00 PM CT at the Sheraton Grand Chicago in room "Erie".

Aim of the PDW session is to bring together leading scholars from economics and strategy/management to discuss recent advances in patent research and related data set useful for empirical work on innovation and R&D from diverse and international perspectives.

Here is our extraordinary lineup of distinguished speakers and discussants:

• Matt Marx (Cornell University) presented "New, Open Datasets for Innovation Research".
• Paola Criscuolo (Imperial College London) shared insights on "Invention Disclosure and Patent Renewal Processes Inside a Large ICT Multinational Company".
• Tony Tong (University of Colorado Boulder) talked about "Patent Acquisition and Monetization Under Invalidation Risk: Evidence from the America Invents Act".

Presentations were followed with discussions by:

• Andrew Toole (USPTO)
• Jeff Furman (Boston University)
